Port Ministry: Seafaring is very nearly solitary confinement
with just a few hours’ opportunity between voyages to re-connect with
the world ashore
Urban Ministry: Ironically, it’s easy to become lost
and alone in a megalopolis if you’re a domestic violence victim, a visiting
family member of a hospitalized patient or a stranded traveler.
Guesthouse: In midtown Manhattan, our guesthouse is a refuge for seafarers and
sojourners, as well as a gathering place for clergy, church members and community
groups.

The guesthouse is a place where the Lutheran community – and other denominations as well – can gather to be the church at work. We have meeting rooms to hold business conferences, education forums, servant trips and fellowship opportunities. New York City is an unparalleled venue for your meetings. Numerous ELCA congregations from across the country have gathered here to volunteer at soup kitchens, neighborhood refurbishment projects and community pre-school and after-school programs. Several ELCA synods have used our meeting rooms as a retreat center for strategic planning. Even small groups from the ELCA Churchwide Expression have chosen New York for their conferences. At the end of the day, New York offers a wealth of leisure activities, ranging from museums, restaurants and the theater. Our rates are remarkably modest, and our staff will help you plan and coordinate your activities and help you navigate the maze of subways, busses and walking tours.
